Job Description
Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Court Reporter to provide accurate and efficient transcription services during legal proceedings. The ideal candidate will be proficient in shorthand or steno reporting and have a strong understanding of legal terminology and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately transcribe spoken words, including testimonies, statements, and court proceedings.
- Produce verbatim transcripts in real-time or post-session, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
- Maintain and manage digital recordings of proceedings when required.
- Review and edit transcripts for grammatical, spelling, and formatting errors.
- Prepare and file official court documents and transcripts in accordance with legal standards.
- Assist attorneys and court officials with transcript requests and ensure timely delivery.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information discussed during court sessions.
- Stay updated on legal terminology, technology, and best practices in court reporting.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Associates (required)
- Certification or degree in court reporting or a related field.
- Proficient in shorthand, steno reporting, or voice writing methods.
- Familiarity with legal terminology and court procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent listening skills.
- Proficient in computer software for transcription and document management.
